# Usual Choices — use

Use an inspected Usual source checkout or extracted source bundle: https://tryusual.com/usual.zip. Run commands from its root. Python 3.11+ for the local runtime.

This website cannot access local files or connect to your agent. These are instructions for the current coding agent. Select explicit source/scope paths with the user. Current instructions control authority; history is not permission. No extra model service or background monitor is required.

## Requirements

Python 3.11+; standard library only

## Install

python3 scripts/usual.py setup install choices --scope /path/to/project

## Configuration

No additional settings. Select the scope explicitly when a command requires it.

## Use

python3 scripts/usual.py onboard
python3 scripts/usual.py start --task "Build a small local tool" --scope /path/to/project
Use the installed skill: $usual in Codex, /usual in Claude Code. The current agent consults, records and gives a review.

## Remove

python3 scripts/usual.py setup disable choices
python3 scripts/usual.py setup remove choices

## Storage

Private decision database at ~/.usual/judgment.sqlite3; existing records and commands remain intact.

## Network

No Usual model calls or CLI telemetry. Evidence supplied to your coding agent uses its normal provider handling and quota.

tested: Deterministic synthetic fixtures on macOS; exact cases in references/verification.md.
pending: Fresh live-agent sessions on Codex and Claude Code.

Preserve unrelated user changes. Evidence read by a hosted coding agent uses that provider’s normal processing and usage. The local runtime has no telemetry.
